Feedback Thoughts

Feedback Thoughts  In life feedback is super important, it is what allows us to grow in whatever we might be doing at a certain point. I think it is important to approach how we give feedback carefully. We never want to be completely negative when giving feedback, because it's not likely whatever you maybe critiquing is completely terrible.  Article #1:  6 Bad Mental Habits That Sabotage Your Success After reading this article I really liked that three of the tips they gave which were never making excuses, do not put yourself down, and lastly, do not second guess yourself. When receiving feedback I think a lot of times we automatically perceive it as a negative thing, but in reality, it is just someone whose purpose is to make you better not tear you down. Instead of dwelling on what you did bad concentrate on what you did well and what you can do to improve next time.  Article #2:  5 Tips For Taking Feedback Like a Champ The biggest tip that...

Topic Brainstorm

Topic #1 OU Ghost Stories  I think every OU student has always wondered if in particular the library was haunted. Personally, when I am in the higher levels of the library where each level seems a little mysterious especially the untouched book shelves. I do not really have much knowledge about ghosts in particular, but I have heard more about some of the legends on campus. For an example, if you walk under the clock tower and look up you will not graduate on time. I think it would be fun to write a story about a group of students who are forever locked in the library or what happens when you look up at the clock tower before you graduate.  ( Bizzell Memorial Library ) Topic #2 Sea Monsters/Mermaids Growing up I was always intrigued by the ocean. I loved that there are limitless opportunities, especially with sea creatures. My favorite animal is a Dolphin and I always imagined that they lived this alternate life under the sea that we have no idea about. I might choo...

Week 2 Story

Beauty and the Basilisk Castle In the beginning, this arrangement was like nothing she had ever imagined. Although she had agreed to marry the basilisk in exchange for her mother's safety she had no idea what wanting three simple roses would have meant to her future. The start of their marriage was nowhere near what a good marriage should be. The relationship started by off by Mary having to behead this terrifying serpent. Even though Mary knew that if she didn't she would be risking her safety, but most importantly her mothers she went ahead and chopped his head off. Not realizing that this deed would ultimately turn the serpent into a youthful human being that she would have to marry. Not only had her mother's decision made her a prisoner to this awful serpent she now had to marry someone she did not now. As the wedding plans were coming together and although they were magnificent, Mary could not stop thinking about what her life would be like if she had never ha...

Reading Notes Anthology

Reading Notes ( Basilisk ) I choose to read the Fairytale called the "Three Roses"  Main Characters: The mom, her three daughters, and the basilisk.   The setting of the story: The mother is traveling to the town next to where they live when she stumbles upon a palace.  The plot: All the mother was trying to do was travel to the town next to theirs and get her daughters presents. I found it interesting that her third daughter just wanted three roses, yet she forgot about the simplest gift. Even though the daughter was willing to go the castle as a form of payment for the mother taking the roses from the basilisk. Unlike, the normal "beauty and the beast" story we hear this story was based on a basilisk which is a deadly serpent. I probably would have added further to the story, like beauty and the beast I would have preferred to have a better and more in depth ending. Maybe, something a long the lines that the daughter saved the basilisk and made him p...

Reading Options

Reading Options After going through the online textbook I really liked how everything was formatted. I think that because of this it will make the flow of the class go a lot smoother. Below are a few stories that I found somewhat intriguing, but with the options, we were given there are definitely a lot more I know I will like.  Why the Lizards Moves His Head Up and Down I have always been intrigued by lizards and I like that folk tales give light to characteristics of everyday animals. It was a little confusing though because I was not exactly sure if the lizard was a human or an actual lizard.  (Lizard) The Green Jewel This story was rather short and I think it would have been more interesting if we had more information on what happened after the green jewel was found. It seemed like the king was found of the girl that lost it and it would have been more interesting if we had known what happen.  Hagar I really like that there is a biblical unit. As a k...
